About Us

We’ve linked this blog to our actual site at www.engaging-technologies.com in the hopes of sharing news flashes, related sites, and getting your opinions on new engaging technologies.

Both graduates of Emporia State University, my husband–Dustin–and I began our teaching careers at junior highs and high schools in Kansas. After beginning our teaching careers, we would, with some regularity, shake our heads and say, “Boy, kids have really changed since we were in high school.” At that point, it had only been 5 years since we ourselves were out of high school!

After four great years of teaching science and math, we would still intermittently shake our heads and say, “Wow, kids sure are different than they were when I was in school.”

Now, several more years after we started our teaching careers, we shake our heads even more often and comment on the ways kids have changed.

Along the way, we found a product that is revolutionizing the classroom, and we wanted to share it with every teacher we knew–and even those we didn’t! Dustin used it in his classroom for several years with great success, and I keep telling him that I would have taught a lot longer with the Classroom Performance System (CPS) in my classroom! However, as it was, that new little baby boy of ours was just too compelling, and I instead quit teaching and began my career at home!

Although our “teaching” now consists of teaching kids in church and community programs and training teachers around the country, we are still very heavily involved with kids (including our very own) and recognize the differences in kids today.

We know that there are even more great technology products out there that will cater directly to the Net generation, and we want to help teachers not only find them but also implement them. That, in a nutshell, is why we founded Engaging Technologies.

Coming from a long family line of teachers, we also know that there are teachers out there that just aren’t comfortable with all of this “new fangled” stuff in the classroom. They really need some help and don’t always know where to get it. Thus, we started our company called Engaging Technologies and got a website up and running this summer.

Through this blog, we hope to share with you links to some of the newest emerging classroom and training technologies and get your opinion and maybe, maybe, just give you the courage to try them out in the classroom!
