KISS – An Easy Way to Download YouTube Movies

KISS…We all know that means Keep It Simple, Silly…right? Well Kiss YouTube does just that.

If you are like many public school teachers, your access to YouTube movies may be denied. So Kiss YouTube allows you to quickly and easily download your YouTube video so you can save it to your personal computer or flashdrive.

So…how is it so easily done?

1) Go the page on YouTube where the video you want to download is located,
          e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNVFuPJyN1Y
2) Change the address line by inserting ‘kiss’ in front of youtube.com,
          e.g. http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=CNVFuPJyN1Y
3) Follow the instructions on that page to download the video, share the video, or download a link to the video.

The First Week of School: Introducing Clickers

Amy Jones, our eInstruction colleague in Idaho, maintains a great website (www.blueclickers.com) and a great blog called The Clicker Chronicles. She recently blogged about introducing clickers in the classroom. If you’re new to using clickers in the classroom or even are an experienced clicker user with a new set of students coming in, be sure and check out her great ideas!

Mathcasts and More!

We received this idea submission from Patty O’Flynn, a math teacher from Woodland, Washington yesterday.

In my math classroom, CPS is a great way to launch a discussion about different approaches to solve a math problem. We often record these discussions as mathcasts; you’ll find one example here: Sample Mathcast

Patty’s mathcast is a terrific example of using the verbal questioning mode in CPS along with your CPS chalkboard. I got a kick out of the giggles as the kids were writing with the chalkboard. It does take a little practice!

Patty and a colleague received a 2007 Qwest Foundation Learning Technology Grant and are currently setting up 16 student mathcasting stations with hardware and Camtasia. Last year, Patty also played around with having her tech department host her Examview quizzes and practice tests online, and she plans to get this up and running in full force this year. If you haven’t checked out the eInstruction user community recently, you should scoot on over there when you get time. I found a great post on CPS Best Practices posted by marquis. It really does lay out some great considerations for implementing CPS into your class.

We’re Back!

Wow…we’re finally back online! My blog posts, not entirely impressive to begin with, took a hard hit this summer. OK, I’ll admit. It WAS a little more than a hard hit…they actually became nonexistent. We spent the summer making our move from Southwest Kansas to Eastern Nebraska and getting our family and our business settled in.

It’s been a busy summer for eInstruction also, with new updates out this summer and more and more people realizing what a tremendous teaching/training tool the Classroom Performance System is. Dustin has been in schools almost every day in August; it is exciting to see so many districts incorporating CPS training into their back-to-school inservice days.
